AIF Centre of Excellence is focused on global identification of innovative freezing technologies for initial trial and subsequent use in New Zealand and internationally. Our innovation center in New Zealand works specifically to assist clients to mitigate the time, opportunity, and financial cost of developing the innovative freezing systems and processes. AIF is actively collaborating with a range of different agencies located in New Zealand to create an optimal environment for scaled process testing, equipment & system certification, and hosting a wide range of scalable test equipment to support internal and external trials.
Preserving Product Quality
With new advances in freezing technology centering around the preservation of the cell wall structure – by ensuring the cell walls are not ruptured by the formation of ice crystals during the freezing process – the resulting thawed product has preserved its nutritional value, color, and importantly taste and texture – as if fresh. This is the most significant difference from conventional freezing, and is a game changer for primary food producers, exporters and the food and beverage industry at large.

Our Services
The AIF team brings extensive experience in designing and optimising refrigeration systems used in various freezing applications. Our technology portfolio contains leading-edge freezing solutions derived from existing and emerging technologies globally. We are actively identifying the best-suited solution for our customers while collaborating with a range of agencies from both the public and private sectors to test and develop these equipment systems.
We offer stand-alone, compact solutions such as freezers sourced from third parties as well as retro-fitting existing large scale processing freezers with custom-engineered auxiliaries to improve product quality and system efficiency. Our freezing systems can be integrated into the processing line for a continual flow or for freezing the product in batches. The freezing equipment is designed to accommodate all the stages in the freezing process while optimising every aspect of it.
Complementing these leading technologies is our broad range of consulting studies and solutions to help you evaluate your current and future goals. The processes we create for you will help you maximise product quality, production yield and food safety while minimising waste, energy consumption, operating costs, foot-print and transportation costs.
